We understand the need for paperwork, risk assessments and compliance with school residentials. To let you focus on what’s important, we’ve done it for you. A few clicks and you’re done! How do you ensure safety during activities?
All activities are led by our highly trained Instructors. Our staff are DBS checked and all Instructors are first aid trained.
What can we do during free time and evenings?
Indoors: We have a big adventure barn where you can bring your own games or use our table tennis!
Outdoors: Let pupils explore our wonderful site, bring sports games and play in our field, or light a campfire and toast marshmallows!
Instructor-led evening activities (chargeable): Choose a night walk, games in our barn or a campfire – let us know if you’re interested in this.
What if a parent needs to be contacted in an emergency?
It’s the school’s responsibility to manage parent contact in emergencies.
Is there overnight cover at BF?
Yes, a staff member will be contactable from 17:00 onwards (17:00-20:00 catering staff, 20:00-08:00 on call staff) and will form patrols of the site.
What are your teacher ratios?
We offer free teacher places on a ratio of 1 teacher per 8 people.
What are the planning deadlines?
2 weeks from deposit payment – sample activity programme is issued
2 weeks from deposit payment – sample meal plan is issued
8 weeks before arrival – balance payment due, dietary and medical info due
Do children have their own showers and toilets?
Yes they do. All showers are individual cubicles and we have accessible facilities on site too with a full changing space set up.
What's the food like? What about dietary needs?
Our food is 5* hygeine rated and consistently receives great feedback. You can see the kind of food your child might be eating on our sample menu. Please rest assured that all dietary needs can be catered for – we just need to know in advance.
I have a pupil who can't swim that well. Can they take part in water activities?
Yes they can. All our staff are fully trained and will place well fitting personal floatation devices on the pupil during watersports activities.
What if a pupil needs the toilet in the night?
Our toilet facilities are very close (less than 30 meters) from your child’s accommodation. During schools camps, the only groups on site are similar children’s groups and we encourage children to visit the toilet at night time with a friend.
What about children bringing screens?
This is for the school groups to decide, however our advice would be to leave them at home. This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the outdoors and take a break from screens.
What if a child doesn't want to stay the night?
This if fine. School teachers on site can arrange for parents to collect them and our on call staff can support by opening gates to allow access.
How last minute can a child book onto the trip?
There is no deadline but this is subject to availability to participate in activities and also space in accommodation.
What if I have a pupil with SEN?
We do offer some accessible options for activities – see our activities page for information. Please let the bookings team know asap if you’d like to bring a child with SEN and we will do our best to accommodate.
Can pupils bring their own wetsuits?
Yes, please bring a spare waterproof bag / bin bag to put the wetsuit in. Please make sure the wetsuits are winter wetsuits and full length.
