Welcome, Parents and Guardians! We’re excited to have your child join us. Our residentials and day visits are designed to provide a real sense of adventure, with every child receiving the opportunity to stretch their comfort zone at a level suitable for them, ensuring everyone leaves with a sense of achievement. Our friendly, highly skilled team provides fun and unique learning opportunities that facilitate friendships being built and special memories being made. We have a robust health and safety and safeguarding policy and all our staff are DBS checked. Below are some FAQs, but do get in touch if you have any other questions!

What will my child be doing at BF Adventure?
For school residentials, your school will be given a timetable to include daytime activities, evening options and meal times. It will resemble this Sample Programme, although it cannot be confirmed until the day of arrival. We’ll also provide a timetable for those on day trips.
My child can't swim that well. Can they take part in water activities?
Yes they can. All our staff are fully trained and will place well fitting personal floatation devices on your child during watersports activities.
What if my child gets scared during an activity?
Our staff will support and encourage everyone to take part to the fullest. People will find some activities a little challenging, which is fine and part of the adventure! We operate a “challenge by choice” ethos, ensuring that everyone feels proud of their achievements no matter how big or small.
What should my child bring?

Can my child bring their own wetsuit?
This is absolutely fine. Please make sure it’s a full length winter suit to ensure they are nice and warm in our on site water filled quarry. It’s worth packing an extra bin bag in case they can’t dry it before home time.
Can my child bring their phone to call me in case of an emergency?
We strongly advise against bringing any screens, phones and/or valuables and we take no responsibility for loss or damage. We provide a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and spend some time screen-free. Your school will have a policy in place for parental contact in an emergency.
Can my child bring their iPad?
Please see above, we strongly advise against bringing any screens and/or valuables.
Do children have their own showers and toilets?
Yes they do. All showers are individual cubicles and we have accessible facilities on site too with a full changing space set up.
What's the food like? What about dietary needs?
Our food is 5* hygeine rated and consistently receives great feedback. You can see the kind of food your child might be eating on our sample menu. Please rest assured that all dietary needs can be catered for – we just need to know in advance. Your School Lead will collect dietary information and will coordinate with our catering team.
Will there be overnight cover?
We provide overnight staff that are on site and on call to support your school staff in an emergency. They preform regular patrols, ensure the site is secure and are all DBS checked.
Who allocates who stays with whom?
Your school will arrange accommodation allocation.
Can my child bring a soft toy / comforter?
Of course, though we advise against bringing very special toys in case anything gets lost or damaged.
What if my child needs the toilet in the night?
Our toilet facilities are very close (less than 30 meters) from your child’s accommodation. During schools camps, the only groups on site are similar children’s groups and we encourage children to visit the toilet at night time with a friend.
Who should I talk to if my child is nervous about staying overnight?
Your child’s teacher is the best person to speak to and is ultimately responsible for your child both building up to and during the residential. That said, if there are any specific questions that you would like to talk about with us beforehand, please get in touch. In addition, our highly trained staff team are friendly, approachable and will be responsive should any worries be raised during your child’s stay. We have a robust safeguarding policy to ensure any concerns are handled appropriately.
Can my child go on the residential but not stay the night?
This is fine. Arrangements for this can be made through the school.
How much does your school residential cost? Where does my money go?
Your school will inform you of the cost. There is limited bursary funding available for pupils eligible for free school meals, however there are caps on what schools can apply for. Income generated from residentials and day trips supports the ongoing continuation of our charity work – providing excellent learning opportunities to pupils through outdoor adventure and specialist support to some of Cornwall’s most vulnerable young people facing physical and / learning disabilities, mental ill-health and more.
The school has asked us to drop off and collect my child. What's the process?
The school will let parents know in advance once they have spoken to us.
My child's just decided they want to go. Can they join?
This is great! Just speak to your school and they can make all the arrangements.
