NCS residential camp at BF Adventure
BF Adventure was host to the National Citizenship Service over the last few weeks and an incredible time was had by all. The NCS is open to all 16 and 17-year-olds in England. It helps build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and meeting new friends. NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development by working on skills like leadership, teamwork and communication.
The first week led the group to Siblyback for a residential camp. During this time the group was set navigation challenges, went sailing and wakeboarding and climbed the cheese rig quarry. Week two was sited at BF headquarters. The group started the week with a huge tug of war competition V’s the veranda of the old bunk house. It looked like the bunk house was not to be beaten for a while but the NCS group refused to give up! They also built a nature trail around the site and an incredible accessible fire pit just below the new kitchen.
Today and next Friday the NCS group will be bag packing at ASDA in Penryn, in aid of the new kitchen build. Show your support for this amazing project and fantastic group of young people by donating to our project. To find out how to get involved with the #bigkitchenbuild click here or make a donation. Every little helps towards building a better future for young people in Cornwall.
