Welcome to the BF Adventure youth zone. This page is just for you (if you are 7 – 19). So if you have any feedback or would like to see anything added, just let us know.

Maybe you have already joined one of our groups, such as E2E and Freestyle or maybe you are just thinking about it. On this page you will find information about our programmes, photos and interviews with young people that are currently on one of our courses.

Did you know?

BF Adventure also offers an Infoservice. Are you unsure what to do next after you finished your programme with us? Do you have problems at school or at home? Or do you have questions about health, drugs, alcohol or your relationship?

Whatever it might be, we will be able to help you or at least give you some ideas and point you to the right direction. You just have to ask for a confidential meeting and we will set a date to have a cup of tea and a chat which will be confidential. What does that mean?

It means, no matter what age you are, we will not tell anyone about what was said in our meeting without you permission unless we find that you or people around you are unsafe!

You don't want to talk about it?

You can also find information on various subjects:

On our noticeboards around the site

On the web (please feel free to use the PCs in our computer room)

Reindeer-handling and soap-making

Our E2E (Entry to Employment) recently went to Trevarno Gardens for a work experience day to learn about the rather unusual day-to-day goings-on at the historic grounds.

The group spent the day working alongside friendly and supportive staff members to find out what it takes to care for a herd of wild reindeer, make your own organic cosmetics or to support the garden team with their forestry work.

The day was hosted by corporate partner, Trevarno, in support of BF Adventure. The E2E group had a great day and gained valuable

E2E goes sailing

E2E sailing trip

In November our Entry to Employment group (E2E) embarked on the Clipper challenge organised by Cornwall Marine Network. After two days of training at Lusty Glaze, Dave, Seb and Nathan boarded the Clipper sailing boat to spend a week sailing around the Helford River, learning how to set sails, climb the mast and to prepare dinner for the crew. Their evenings were filled with getting to know the rest of the crew, writing diaries and playing games on board. Nathan said:

“It was great to be on the boat and seeing the waves and massive ships was truly amazing. I loved it!”

Interviews

This month we would like to tell you a little bit about our E2E (Entry to Employment group).

Our E2E programme runs three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday) and is a mix of getting to try a range of exciting outdoor activities, improving your numeracy and literacy skills and learning about work through volunteering on site.

Whilst you are here you will also meet new people, conquer your fears, gain more confidence and discuss subjects such as budgeting, healthy living (cooking nice meals with the group) and exploring new ideas for future training or employment. And if you attend the programme regularly you will also receive £30 EMA (Education maintenance allowance) per week!

We have interviewed to Zoe (17), who joined our E2E programme in September 2009 to see what she has to say about her time at BF Adventure.

Interviewer: Hi Zoe! Could you tell us what you like best about being part of our E2E group?

Zoe: It’s really great getting to do new stuff, meeting new people and actively doing something rather than sitting in a class room.

Interviewer: What have you learnt since you came to BF Adventure?

Zoe: I like that I get to challenge myself. I don’t like heights for example, but I still push myself to take part in the climbing activities. I have gained so much confidence in doing things I usually wouldn’t do. Meeting new people and doing team building activities has also improved my social skills.

Interviewer: What would you like to do after the programme?

Zoe: I would like to join the army or do something active, outdoors.

Interviewer: Would you recommend the E2E group?

Zoe: I would definitely recommend the programme to everyone that likes trying new things and would like to be more confident.

Interviewer: Thanks for the interview Zoe!
