In order for us to continue with our work we need to offer a quality service that addresses a wide range of needs. We will not compromise the needs of children and young people in Cornwall due to restriction of finances, but quality is expensive to sustain! We therefore have an ongoing agenda to raise our profile and to secure long term funding and donations.
Desperately needed indoor space
Whilst our outside facilities are amazing, our only indoor space for activities is a second hand marquee and two old port-a-cabins donated by RNAS Culdrose. On bad weather days and during the long winter this can be very challenging for the staff.
As client numbers increase each year we have now reached a point at which new facilities are becoming crucial in order to continue to offer the high quality service we are best known for and sustain BF Adventure
"The BF Adventure Project"
Last year we were lucky to win a grant from Lloyds TSB to appoint a project manager for a year to plan the build of new indoor space for BF Adventure.
Together with a group of young people that come to us on a regular basis, our project manager, Jonathan, has designed a range of new buildings including an improved bunkhouse to accommodate more groups on residential programmes, an indoor sports hall for cold and rainy days, desperately needed toilets and showers, storage space and a bush kitchen. All of these have educational themes.
The estimated project costs are about £1m!!!
It certainly won't be easy to raise the amount required but we are applying for major grants, appealing to the public and we will also run a number of exiting fundraising events throughout the year.
On thing is clear - we will not be able to fund the new facilities without a lot help!
