Thanks to recent funding there will be a new intervention programme ‘Barrier-free Adventure’ at BF Adventure which will focus on addressing mental health issues in young Cornish individuals
BF Adventure has secured funding from Duchy Health Charity and Gwellheans Ltd. for an exciting new programme with a focus on supporting young people suffering from mental health issues in Cornwall. ‘Barrier-free Adventure’ will focus on young people with severe anxiety and self-esteem issues.
BF Adventure will provide a supportive programming tailored to individual needs using its extensive 60 acre outdoor site and activities to promote mental wellbeing, social bonding, resilience and confidence, developing greater connectivity and engagement. Progress will be assessed through tailored sessions and supporting young people to develop characteristics including improved communications, self-esteem and teamwork.
Adrian Richards CEO says: ‘We are delighted to have been funded for this great new programme, mental health in young people is really important and in the past has not been taken seriously. BF Adventure is the ideal location for this programme with its beautiful granite quarries and stunning 60 acre site. We already support over 4,000 young people in Cornwall each year, this will give us the ability to focus upon supporting their health and wellbeing in a key area of need.’
